Hailing from Tathra, Australia, Kai Otton battled his way onto the world tour after four years on the qualifying series. He was noticed as the runner up for Rookie of the Year in 2007 and has been a staple on the world tour ever since. Ottz infamously knocked Kelly Slater’s hopes for his ninth world title race in the Santa Catarina Pro in Brazil. At the 2013 Rip Curl Pro in Portugal, Otton won his first world tour event at 33 years old.
