Lay day called with only small surf on offer - all eyes on this weekend's swell
Surfersvillage Global Surf News, 5 April, 2017 - The Drug Aware Margaret River Pro, Stop No. 2 of the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT), will see competition called OFF today with only small surf and unfavorable winds on offer.
"We have called another lay day because we still have smaller surf and winds are supposed to pick up," said WSL Deputy Commissioner Jessi Miley-Dyer. "We've been closely monitoring the forecasts and expect a swell to fill in over the weekend. What we are seeing for the weekend looks much better than what we have today. We will check back in tomorrow morning to reassess."
Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow morning at 6:45 a.m. local time to reassess the conditions and make the next call.
The field of elite surfers has been narrowed down to the men's Quarterfinalists and women's Semifinalists. When competition gets back underway, the event will see an exciting finals day in Margaret River at the second stop of the WSL Championship Tour.
